Bali Day 2 - Ubud

We had breakfast at guesthouse and checked out at 11am
We went to the beach for a stroll and arrived at the travel shop for our ride at 1pm
Our ride came late at 1.30pm and unexpectedly, was a small minibus without aircon
luckily, the weather was cool but started to rain heavily as we arrived ubud in 2hours!
We arrived at some sort of terminal at ubud and had to walked to our guesthouse in the rain
A female backpacker (in the same bus) joined us for our walk
and it took us about 40mins walk to arrive at our guesthouse.
It was a nice guesthouse and costs only 22euro/night!

Then came the bad news..
The heavily rain caused 3 trees to fall on the cables,
there was no electricity and water (electric pump) at the guesthouse!
It is unknown when there will be electricity and we hoped that it would returned by evening..
I cant imagine not taking a shower or sleeping without aircon in hot bali!

We went to explore the town and early dinner..
Apparently, the whole ubud was affected,
shops were dark and restaurants had limited menus due to no electricity..
We went to an expensive restaurant by a small river, as husband like the ambiance, but food was so-so..
We didnt explored much of the art market as it was closing

We went to the palace for a walk
and managed to book a cheap day tour for the next day..
The average price was about euro 15/ pax for the tour
but we managed to negotiate for 25/couple for the tour..
I guess no electricity = no business and good for bargains!

At about 7pm, there was electricity in some part of the city
so, we were happy at the possibility that our guesthouse was back to normal..
We went for a spa (body scrub, bath, massage) for 1.5hr at euro12/pax
and felt much better after the bath
Thereafter, was a small indonesian tapas cafe in the dark,
usual trip to the kmart for snacks and drinks...
and we walked back to the guesthouse.

The guesthouse was located about 10mins walk from the city
As it was near 11pm, most shops were closed,
the streetlights were not working,
so we had to rely on my handphone flashlight on the walk back...
Definitely, i was happy that i was not alone on this scary walk!

Sadly, the guesthouse still is out of electricity and water
Lucky, we had a bath earlier at the massage and the weather was cool after the heavy rain,
we managed to fall asleep in our aircon-less room..
